On 13 September 2011 Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy premiered in London with Benedict Cumberbatch, Gary Oldman, Tom Hardy, Toby Jones, Stephen Graham and Colin Firth in attendance.
The film went to the top of the UK box office and stayed there for 3 weeks. It was also met with widespread critical acclaim.

Sherlock filming over (and with a different shade of hair colour) Benedict Cumberbatch attended the Venice Film Festival on 5 September to promote Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy in which he appears as Peter Guillam opposite Gary Oldman as George Smiley.
